Hidden in the corn fields of the Panhandle of Texas is one of nature's best kept secrets. The fresh tasting water of the Ogallala aquifer is only a secret to those who don't live here and don't have the opportunity to drink this water every day. For several decades, the farmers of the Panhandle have used this water to produce corn and other crops. Llanos Altos bottled water is the result of one man's vision to use this water for a better purpose. As rivers, streams and lakes become more polluted, or people and industries divert these water sources for other uses; good quality drinking water becomes a more precious commodity every day. The protected underground aquifer used by Llanos Altos provides a long term secure and unpolluted source for drinking water.

A neighboring farmer provided us with an old 1940’s Quonset barn as the first home for Llanos Altos. After moving the barn three miles across the corn fields, we located it right next to the source of our water. A new well was constructed in July 2004 over 700 feet deep into the lower levels of the aquifer. While our barn has a long history, our equipment is modern and represents state of the art in terms of providing our customers with assurance of good quality bottled water. Both treatment systems meet or exceed federal and state regulations for treatment of bottled water.

Our well water analysis provides some evidence of the insight that people in the panhandle have about the quality of our water:

pH  7.2
Calcium   36 mg/l
Magnesium     25 mg/l
Sodium   25 mg/l
Chloride    6.9 mg/l
Fluoride  0.9 mg/l
Sulfate  34 mg/l
Nitrate   1.9 mg/l
Bicarbonate 290 mg/l

The above analysis would allow Llanos Altos water to technically be classified as a “still mineral water” i.e. not carbonated but containing a moderate level of naturally present minerals.
