Americans Drink More Water for Health and Hydration

The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) reports that in 2012 overall consumption of bottled water jumped by 6.2 percent to 9.67 billion gallons. Per capita consumption was an average of 30.8 gallons of bottled water, up 5.3 per cent. Bottled water increased in absolute volume more than any other beverage category in the U.S. Changes in per capita consumption indicate persistent interest in a product that consumers embrace as a healthful alternative to other beverages.
